The rugby club was formed in 1936 and is located off Droylsden Road in Audenshaw , Tameside. It fields 4 senior sides , three colts teams  , and provides rugby for all age groups from u7 to u 16 plus a girls squad. A main club event now in its second year is the Whit Friday Brass Band Contest which warrants its own focused website .In 2009 38 Brass Bands attended our venue with more Bands and visitors expected when this years event takes place on Friday 28th May 2010.
Throughout the Tameside Borough  there are 11 venues and in 2009  a total of 90 Brass Bands , either Senior or Junior, chose various sites to play at across the competing time period between 4 pm and 10.30 pm.The event is a great opportunity for local Bands to display their skills to official adjudicators and the general public; but equally the Contest attracts a countrywide participation.  Brass Bandsmen and women travelled from as far away as North Downs, Bedford,Huddersfield, Staffordshire and Blackpool.
Tameside Council are long term supporters of this Whit Friday spectacle and assist all the venues with adverising material and some funding to offset costs.
